I started writing a blog about personal finance in 2005. Yes, it’s been twenty years.
In that time, I’ve been wildly successful beyond anything I could have imagined. I owe much of it to the other personal finance bloggers and creators I’ve met along the way. We created masterminds and sharing networks and all that jazz, but most of all we genuinely celebrated and helped each other along the way.
In fact, J.D. Roth, who used to curate posts for Apex (and may again one day!) is one of those people and he’s a very good friend to this day despite no longer being a personal finance creator.
Celebrating your friends truly is wildly positive-sum.
Root for Your Friends [Joseph Thacker] – “It’s getting excited for your friends when something good happens, and rejecting jealousy.
It’s deeply believing that a rising tide lifts all boats.
It’s understanding that most games in life aren’t zero‑sum; they’re wildly positive‑sum.”
